The challenge
Due to the complex nature of Laura Ashley's made to order products - curtains, blinds, furniture and upholstery - they had previously only been available in-store or via telephone order. Creating an ecommerce site to sell these products online was providing the client with a substantial challenge. Following our experience with Next, we were perfectly placed to provide the solution.
The solution
We worked closely with Laura Ashley to create a detailed analysis of their existing processes. This ensured that the system we built would integrate seamlessly, creating as little work as possible for their internal team. Making use of existing back end infrastructure, we created a new system on top, incorporating core data and presenting it correctly for the customer. Over two phases, we introduced made to measure products, swiftly followed by made to order upholstery and furniture.
The results
The results have been phenomenal. From launch, Laura Ashley's return on investment has been extremely high with the site breaking all sales forecasts. We're proud to be continually developing the site and working on other initiatives. The site's success was also recognised by the digital industry, winning the 2009 DADI Award for Best Ecommerce Project and the 2009 Fresh Award for Freshest Niche Market Project.
